Galena police seeking info on possible prank call about home invasion

The Galena Police Department is seeking information about a possible prank call about a home invasion.

Authorities say they received the call Tuesday night around 9:20 p.m. A male caller reported his home at 23rd st. and Joplin st. was being burglarized by two people and his wife was shot in the stomach. He disconnected before giving any more information to Cherokee County Dispatch. When officers arrived at the scene they found the homeowner safe and no burglary in process. While searching the area police found a cellphone in the yard still pulled up to 911. They didn’t find any signs of disturbance in the area.

Authorities say they believe the incident was a prank call and are asking anyone with knowledge to contact the Galena Police Department at (620) 783-5065.
