Fugitive wanted in 2 states leads authorities on chase in southeast Kansas
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. — A man wanted in Kansas and Missouri is caught after fleeing on a stolen motorcycle.
According to Kansas State Highway Patrol Trooper Rick Wingate, the pursuit happened around 4:10 pm on Thursday, August 22nd in Cherokee County, Kansas.
A trooper tried to pull over a motorcycle for a traffic violation, but it took off.
During the chase, authorities discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen from Jasper County, Missouri.
At one point, Wingate says the trooper lost sight of the suspect. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Galena Police Department joined in the pursuit and the suspect was found again.
The motorcycle crashed on S. Wood in Galena and the suspect ran on foot. Law enforcement released a K9 Officer, helping to apprehend the suspect around 4:35 pm.
The man was identified as Theodore Lane, 18, of Galena, Kansas.
Lane was wanted in Newton County, Missouri on the following charges:
Possession Of Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid;
Unlawful Use Of Weapon – Subsection 11 – Possess Weapon And A Felony Controlled Substance;
Unlawful Possession, Transport, Manufacture, Repair Or Sale Of Illegal Weapon
He was also wanted out of Cherokee County, Kansas for burglary.
