Frontenac’s Fields (3A), Chanute’s Babcock (4A) named finalists for “Sports in Kansas” Player of the Year
Karma Fields and Kori Babcock are finalists for Player of the Year in their respective classes.
“Sports in Kansas” has released its list of finalists for the 2020 girls basketball player of the year.
Frontenac’s Karma Fields is a finalist in Class 3A, while Chanute’s Kori Babcock is a finalist in Class 4A.
Fields helped the Raiders go 22-2 overall this season, including winning their first-round game in the 3A state tournament in Hutchinson. Frontenac didn’t get a chance to play in the state semifinals, after KSHSAA canceled the remainder of the tournament due to concerns of the spread of COVID-19.
Babcock was fantastic all season long for the Blue Comets. She posted 19.5 points and 5 assists per game, while also pulling down 5.5 rebounds per night.
She hit 66 threes on the year and averaged 3.5 steals per game.
