Frontenac upsets #1 seed in state tournament
The Raiders beat Cheney 6-0
EMPORIA, Kan. — The Frontenac Raiders knocked off the #1 seed in the 3A state bracket on Thursday afternoon.
The Raiders beat Cheney 6-0 in their tournament opener in Emporia. Karma Fields only gave up two hits for Frontenac, and also added a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Frontenac is now 18-6 overall this season, and will face 5th-seeded St. Mary’s in the state semifinals on Friday morning at 11. St. Mary’s defeated Kingman 6-1 in round one Thursday.
