Frontenac hits the road to state championship

The Frontenac community sends the Raiders off to state Friday afternoon.

FRONTENAC, Kan. – (WATCH) Frontenac hits the road to Hutchinson Friday afternoon – where they’ll face Andale in the 3A state championship game on Saturday.

“Watching these kids grow up since they were little, this is something they’ve always wanted and dreamed about,” says Frontenac football parent Courtney McCartney, “As a mom and a parent, getting to see those dreams come true, you couldn’t ask for anything better than that.”

“They’ve dreamed of this since they played together in 3rd grade football,” says Frontenac parent Jodi Stewart, “All they’ve wanted to do is make it to state. We’re here and they’re excited…we’re excited and we’re ready to do it.”

“Our community is all about it. They support us 100%,” says head coach Mark Smith, “Our crowd was amazing last Friday and it really helped us. We’re looking forward to another great crowd on Saturday. Our kids will be excited to play.”

“Against Holton, our crowd was packed,” says senior QB/DE Collin McCartney on the support from the community, “They play a big part in why we’re successful. We love them and they love us. It’s great having them.”

“I’m confident. Coaches put in a great game plan,” says senior OL/DL Landon Dean, “We’ve had a very good week of practice and we’re just looking forward to the game.”

“We’re playing our best football right now,” Smith adds, “We know Andale has a tremendous program. We’re excited to give it our best shot and see what happens.”

“It would mean everything to me,” Dean finishes on the possibility of bringing home a state title, “We have one more game left as seniors, so we might as well go win it.”
