Friday Evening Blog: Month Long Forecast! -Doug

Month Long Forecast! -Doug

Good Friday evening!  I hope you are ready for the weekend.  I am looking forward to it.  Plus, the temperatures are going to be fantastic with highs into the 60s.  We do have a storm system that is rolling in late Sunday and Monday.  This will give us some scattered showers but the better chances for rain will be on Tuesday.  But on this blog, lets focus on the month to come.

March Overview

Since mid December, we have only had arctic air one time, which is unusual for us in the winter months.  Even though we have had almost 11″ of snow, it has been a very mild winter.

Snowfall:  10.75″

Average:  15″ (but the new average drops to 13″ next year due to a warming climate.  We have only averaged 13″ since 2000.)

However, we do have an active pattern and we will continue with plenty of chances for showers and thunderstorms this month.  I do think we still have 1-2 shots of snow on the backside of some of these systems.  Also, meteorological wise, Spring starts March 1st.  Okay, the 7-day is week one.

Temperatures drop through the day on Monday with showers.  Rain chances on Tuesday and may mix with a little snow on the back side on Tuesday night.  Temperatures warm right back up late in the week.  Lets go into week 2.

Week 2

Pretty big system to start the week with rain on Sunday and Monday, leftover showers on Tuesday.  Mild temps return late in the week with a few showers on Friday.

Week 3

Another decent system on Sunday and Monday with rain.  This system could produce thunderstorms as well.  Last time this system cam through in January it gave us a bout of severe weather.  Cooling down through the middle of the week with thunderstorms toward the weekend.  Some of these could be on the strong side.

Week 4

A cool start to the week with showers on Sunday.  The next system will be a bigger system with thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.  Cooling down the rest of the week.

Week 5

As we wrap up the month and move into April, thunderstorms return on Wednesday and Thursday.  Some of the these could be strong to severe.  The rest of the long range forecast is below.
