FREEZING PIPES A CONCERN IN COLD TEMPERATURES

Freezing temperatures are bringing dangerous conditions to the 4-states and area residents are warned to brace for the serious cold. While prepping for the big chill, one common problem to avoid is freezing pipes.

In order to keep water flowing, hardware officials recommend keeping the cabinet doors from under sink open, as well as faucets dripping from both the hot and cold spouts. Officials also recommend keeping a blanket over the water heater in your garage.

As for items inside and outside the home, keeping a stocked inventory is helpful.

“Ice melt is always a good thing to keep in your car as well as your house,” said Cris Henkle of Henkle Ace Hardware in Webb City. “In the house, try and keep a little bit of supplies, milk bread, water, things they [to] use without cooking if they want to.”
