Four-State storms cause scattered power outages
Thousands lose power in Pittsburg
Pittsburg, KAN. — Some communities report power outages due to storms that rumbled through southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri Monday night.
At least 2,000 customers lost power in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Westar Energy says restoring poower in some areas will take longer than usual because of strong winds and ligthning.
Empire District Electric Compnay reported at least a couple of hundred power outages in Cherokee County, Kansas and fewer in the Joplin/Duguesne area in Missouri.
Authorities caution that if you see a downed power line, you should assume it’s live and stay away.
