Four local wrestlers place at the first KSHSAA girls championships

SALINA, Kan. – Four local wrestlers earned spots on the podium at the first ever KSHSAA girls state wrestling championships Thursday in Salina.

Alexis Allen (Independence) – Allen finished in 1st place in the 109 lb bracket, defeating Wellington’s Anna Cullens (Fall, 4:42) in the championship match. With that win, Allen finishes her junior season with a perfect 30-0 record.

Abbie Jones (Labette County) – Jones finished in 3rd place in the 143 lb bracket on Thursday. She defeated Leavenworth’s Olivia Hutchley (Fall, 3:59) in the 3rd place match.

Cassidy Anderson (Caney Valley) – Anderson finished in 4th place in the 136 lb bracket Thursday night. Anderson made it to the 3rd-place match before falling to Burlingame’s Gianna Culbert (Dec. 4-0)

Chloe Gile (Labette County) – Gile finished in 5th place in the 101 lb bracket. Gile won the 5th place match via forfeit over Liberal’s Mana Chanthansone. Chanthansone was the wrestler who put Gile on the left side of the bracket Thursday, topping her in the first round on a 9-4 decision.
