Former Pitt State basketball player shot and killed in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan – A Pittsburg State University Basketball Alumni is shot and killed outside a Wichita sports stadium.

According to Sergeant Dan Hardy, 31-year-old Marquell Nolan was killed around 10:00 P.M. Wednesday night outside a Wichita stadium where he was watching a youth football game.

Marquell Nolan and the suspect reportedly had ongoing troubles not related to the game. Authorities have released images of the suspect.

Sergeant Hardy says Nolan and the suspect got into an argument; The then suspect pulled out a gun and shot Nolan.

Police are still searching suspect.

Nolan was a former Butler Community College football player before playing basketball at Seward County Community College and then transferring to Pittsburg State.  He was the MIAA defensive player of the year his senior year at Pittsburg State.
