Former NEO running back Darwin Thompson headed to Super Bowl with Chiefs

MIAMI, Okla. – Two years ago he was the Southwest Conference Offensive MVP. Now, former NEO running back Darwin Thompson will play in the NFL’s biggest game.

Thompson and the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl, beating the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championshp game on Sunday night 35-24.

The former NEO standout is a rookie with the Chiefs organization, after the team took him in the 6th round of the NFL draft back in April. He had one carry for 7 yards on Sunday night against Tennessee, and has 128 yards and a touchdown on 37 carries this season. He has also caught 9 passes for 43 yards.

Thompson played at NEO for two years (2016-2017), earning SWJCFC Offensive MVP honors in his final year with the program. He led the nation in all-purpose yards, racking up 1,619 yards on 185 carries and 13 receptions.

He finished up his college career at Utah State, where he spent one season. Thompson ran for over 1,000 yards in his lone season at Utah State.

Thompson and the Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on February 2nd. You can watch the game on FOX 14.
