Former Chiefs QB Alex Smith announces retirement from NFL
Smith was the QB in Kansas City from 2013-2017.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Smith made the announcement in an Instagram post on Monday morning.
The 3X Pro Bowl selection was the starting quarterback for the Chiefs from 2013-2017, and spent 16 years in the NFL between the San Francisco 49ers, Chiefs and Washington Football Team. Smith was the 2020 NFL Comeback Player of the Year after returning to the field for Washington as the starting quarterback for the first time since suffering a leg injury in the 2018 season.
Smith was 5-1 as Washington’s quarterback last season.
He finishes his career with 35,650 passing yards and 199 touchdowns.
