Former Aurora church destroyed by fire, cause undetermined
AURORA, Mo. — Authorities say the fire damage at a former Aurora church is so severe, that at this point, the cause is undetermined.
The First Christian Church on West Pleasant Street was in operation for more than 100 years, but it closed in 2013 due to declining membership.
Authorities say a pet company was currently using the building, which is located on West Pleasant Street.
Crews were called out to the fire on Friday evening (April 5).
The Aurora Rural Fire Protection District says “As a rough estimate approximately 1 million gallons of water were used over the duration of the 10 hours, including overhaul operations.”
