Floyd Ray Wood
May 6, 1947 - February 28, 2020
Floyd Ray Wood, age 72, passed away on February 28, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield MO. He was born on May 6, 1947, to Raymond and Virginia (Howard) Wood. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally, on August 6, 1971.
After graduating from Southwest Missouri State College (now MSU), he worked for the Department of Family Services and then for the Department of Health. When he retired, he began substitute teaching, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Floyd loved Civil War history, auto mechanics, and classic cars. He was a life-long Christian. Many knew him for his quirky sense of humor, his quick smile, and his consideration of others.
Floyd is survived by his wife Sally, his sister Vivian, and his sister-in-law Jeanie Brown, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. His great-niece Tay and his great-nephew Zach held a special place in his heart. Spending time with them was his favorite thing to do. He loved going to Tay’s gymnastics meets, Zach’s baseball games, and any other event in which they were involved.
At Floyd’s request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home in Marionville.
