CASSVILLE, Mo. — Tuesday morning around 7:30 a.m. Barry County 911 were alerted to a structure fire on the Cassville Square, 208 West 8th.

Cassville Fire Protection District, Cassville Police responded. Automatic mutual aid arrived from Exeter Fire and Butterfield Fire.

The large 2-story mason and wood construction building is a former theater in Cassville, but years ago it was separated into downstairs offices, now vacant.

Apartments comprised the top floor.

Cassville Fire states in a release of information. “First units on scene were reporting heavy fire on the first and second floors.”

After the roof collapsed just before noon, the ladder truck of Cassville Fire continued soaking the exposed upper floor until nearly 3:15 p.m.

“This was a long and taxing day on our firefighters, as this fire quickly grew to be a defensive fire, as well as returning multiple times throughout the night to continue to knock down flare ups.” — CFPD

The firefighters worked hard to keep the fire contained to one building and they were successful in doing so.

We learn on scene there were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal was requested to assist with investigation.

Wednesday Cassville Fire extends thanks to, “Exeter Fire Protection District, Butterfield Fire/Rescue (Butterfield, Mo), Barry Electric Cooperative, Inc., Cassville Missouri Police Department, Mercy Emergency Medical Services, and Barry County Emergency Svcs E911 for their assistance.”
