The eighth and final clue in the Hidden Cash scavenger hunt in Joplin has now been given.

A finale was held at the Gryphon Building tonight with a variety of drawings for gift cards and cash prizes from the six businesses that sponsored the scavenger hunts.

The sponsors include Sweet Caroline’s Cream and Coffee, The Fork Restaurant, Midwest IT Services, 3D/4D Imaging Center, Abundant Shine (ASI), Inc., The Brush and Blade and Touches of Splendor.

The Alliance of Southwest Missouri has been posting clues on its Facebook page for the past eight weeks as to where the hidden money in Joplin might be.

One $100 bill was hidden each week.

Alliance members say their goal in hosting the event was to spread joy in the community and to draw families closer together.

“People were just out for fun,” said Jo Sitton, Assistant Director, Alliance of Southwest Missouri. “As a family, they were out looking. Even if they didn’t find the cash, they were just having a good time as a family.”

“It brings the community together,” said Anthony Priddy, Joplin resident. “Everybody is out searching. Everybody is getting along for the most part, and it’s showing people new businesses.”

This was the first year of the hidden cash scavenger hunts in Joplin.

Plans are already in the works to do it again next year.
