FestiFall Kicks Off in Downtown Miami with the Big Crab Boil

Local volunteers from the A team have been slaving over the stove all day.

“We’re cooking 300 lbs of crab legs, a 120 lbs of shrimp, 200 lbs of potatoes, and I believe it’s 96 lbs of corn, and a 120 lbs of sausage,” says A Team Member Jim Florio.

They’re cooking up a feast for close to 350 guests.

“It’s pretty much an all-day event. The hard part is getting the cookers hot enough to boil the water and after that it’s pretty easy,” says A Team member John Froman.

The crab boil brings residents together to share a meal in the heart of Downtown Miami, kicking off Saturday’s main event.

“The whole thing about Festifall that I love is the fact that it’s family oriented. It’s a day where families can get together, spend some time together. It’s free of charge,” says Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michele Bolton.

Festifall is bigger than ever this year, with more than 80 vendors and booths lining Main Street. There’s sure to be something to keep everyone entertained.

“Saturday we have some new events that have been added to our Festifall which will include our game zone, which has fifty inch flat screen TVs and satellites, we’ll be playing all the college football games and keeping up on scores and events,” says Bolton.

Also new to Festifall this year is a car show and Native American dance exhibition. There will also be the annual 5k, chili cook off, and of course, inflatables for the kids. The Chamber of Commerce expects about 2,000 people to fill Main Street this weekend.
