Emergency team hosts training event for public viewing

PICHER, Okla. – The Quapaw Nation Emergency Management Team hosted a meet and greet as well as a demonstration today, April, 18.

The team showcased their K9s training and rescue capabilities during a tracking exercise.

K9 handler Hugh Murray stated:

“A dog is a search multiplier, plain and simple, whether its search and recovery or search and rescue. Their nose is an invaluable tool. A well-trained dog and handler team are going to give you an added benefit [because] we can cover a lot more area.”

This event gave residents an in-depth look at the day-to-day work life of the management team.
