Rendering of proposed school on Dover Hill

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Economic Security Corporation in Joplin donated a tract of land to Joplin Schools for its new elementary school on Dover Hill.

John Joines with ESC attending the meeting last night to present the property. According to Superintendent of Operations Dr. Kerry Sachetta, the donation allows the district to acquire 150 feet of property near the North Head Start. The property runs from the railroad tracks to the west all the way to Main Street on the east.

Dr. Sachetta says this donation makes a significant difference in the efficiency of the use of the site and also allows for a lane to be built on the north end of the property making access to Main Street easier. Sachetta says the donation also made a significant difference in the orientation of the building which allows for new options including lower retaining walls and a cost reduction to the project.

Dr. Sachetta adds they plan to begin bidding the construction this winter.
