Drought monitor is good for the week

While the drought persists off to our west

With the rain and wintry weather that we have seen over the past several days to a few weeks, that has been helping us avoid any drought concerns. Our area continues to stay saturated while some drought concerns continue not too far to the west. For parts of south-central Kansas, we have drought to moderate drought conditions being observed this week. In western Kansas, we go from drought conditions in the northwest to moderate/severe drought conditions in the southwest. We also note some drought to moderate drought conditions in southwestern Oklahoma. With some storm systems on the way to parts of the Central Plains and our area over the next several days, we’ll see if those incoming rain chances can improve the drought out west.
