Drought expands across the Four State Region

Much needed rain chances on the way

With much of the area staying dry last week and much of this week, we saw that result in the drought expanding and worsening across the region. All of southeast Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma is in a drought while the dry conditions worsened across parts of southwest Missouri. While areas from Nevada, Pittsburg, Joplin and Grand Lake to the south and east are in a moderate drought, a severe drought encompasses most of our southwest Missouri counties while an extreme drought has expanded through Lawrence, Barry and McDonald counties. With our next cold front ready to roll in on Sunday with rain chances lasting through Monday and additional t-storm chances for next Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll take whatever rain chances we can get to try to make up for the lack of rainfall.
