Downtown Joplin Alliance to release new branding
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Downtown Joplin Alliance introduces its new branding, after a branding expert was brought in with the help of a grant.
At the end of January, the Downtown Joplin Alliance used a grant from Missouri Main Street Connection to hire Ben Muldrow of Muldrow and Associates. He helped them create a brand identity specific to downtown and introduced the idea of community-wide, cohesive branding.
“After three days of visiting with many community leaders, business owners, and representatives of area organizations, touring the city, and leading important conversations, Muldrow presented his brand proposal on his final day in Joplin. Prior to this, businesses didn’t have a clear symbol or emblem they could use to denote that they are a part of Downtown Joplin. The goal was to create a symbol that the community could embrace and use to show their love and passion for the community,” according to the Downtown Joplin Alliance.
Officials say Muldrow delivered his final branding package and recommendations for moving forward after feedback from the DJA board and other community stakeholders.
The package includes colors, logos, sample wayfinding signage, merchandise, and more ideas to implement the brand throughout the community to build a united image.
Lori Haun, Downtown Joplin Alliance Executive Director, states “We are thrilled to bring a community brand to Joplin. This gives businesses, individuals, and organizations all a way to show their pride for our city.”
