Death of Pittsburg resident determined to be self-inflicted

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Authorities release new information about the investigation into the death of 23-year-old Tylei Messer.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, around 7:25 a.m., a resident from 416 N. Warren Street in Pittsburg, Kansas called 911 reporting an unresponsive person. When Pittsburg Police officers got to the home, they found 23-year-old Tylei Messer deceased inside. Authorities say she lived at the home.

The Pittsburg Police Department called the KBI in to assist in the death investigation.

Today, Sept. 17, 2020, authorities released that after interviews, processing of evidence at the scene and an autopsy, they have concluded that Messer’s death was the result of a self-inflected injury.

The Pittsburg PD and KBI are not releasing any other information at this time.
