Death in Joplin turns into a homicide investigation following autopsy
JOPLIN, Mo. — The coroner says Jonathan E. Powell died of multiple gunshot wounds. Police are now calling it a homicide investigation.
Officers got a call on Wednesday, Dec.18, around 12:15 p.m. about unknown trouble at 1717 S. Roosevelt Ave (West Side Mini-Storage). They got there and found a man who had been shot.
EMS took him to Mercy Hospital where he later died. The victim was identified as Powell, 36, of Joplin.
