Dan Howard Peterson
May 11, 1948 - July 18, 2021
Dan Howard Peterson, 73 of Pittsburg, KS passed away at his home on Sunday July 18, 2021. He was born on May 11, 1948, in Wichita, KS the son of John Howard and Violet May (Socolofsky) Peterson.
In February of 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS AJAX as an Operations Specialist (OS2). He earned several commendation medals and was honorably discharged in January of 1973.
On June 12, 1976 he was united in marriage to Betty Shouse in Pittsburg, KS; she survives him of the home.
Dan worked for Miller’s Professional Imaging for many years; he was also the proprietor of DB Pete’s Liquor and ran Green Magic Lawn Care.
He was a longtime member at the First Christian Church in Pittsburg, KS. He enjoyed camping, fishing and his morning coffee group. He loved watching sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were playing.
Additional survivors include a daughter Lindsay (Sam) Hayes of Pittsburg, KS; a son Daniel (Tresha) Peterson of Great Falls, MT; a brother Jim (Jennifer) Peterson of Emporia, KS, a sister Cathe (Dave) Loger of Clearwater, KS: 4 grandchildren: Joseph, Wesley, Leah and Ian Hayes and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John Peterson.
Memorial services will be 11am Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Pittsburg with Rev. Pat Nixon officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:30 until service time. Burial will be at the McCune City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home or church.
