TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – (Video Courtesy: Northeastern State University) Former Crowder softball coach and Athletic Director John Sisemore was introduced Thursday as the new Athletic Director at Division II Northeastern State University.

“The biggest thing was that NSU was close to my farm. I have a major cattle farm within 12 miles of here. When I started getting into coaching and administration, I knew NSU was going to be at the top of my list if I ever had the opportunity to move from Crowder,” Sisemore says on taking the opportunity in Tahlequah, “The opportunity came and I just seized it, and it’s just been a blessing since.”

Sisemore spent the last 8 years coaching the Crowder softball team. He was also the school’s Athletic Director for the last 7 years.

In his 8 years leading the Crowder softball program, Sisemore won 403 games and led the team to multiple region championships. Crowder was perennially among the best NJCAA softball programs in the country.

As for what he’ll miss leaving Neosho for Tahlequah, “That small town atmosphere,” Sisemore says, “Literally you could pick up the phone and you could call the local news and tell them you have something coming up tomorrow, and they would jump in the car and come down and run with it. Just people helping people. I think it’s going to be the same here. I believe it is. I see it in my heart. Just so many good folks in the Joplin and Neosho area…just so many good folks.”
