Crews fight fire at old Liberal High School

Crews battled a large fire at the old Liberal, Missouri High School last night.

Authorities say the fire first started around 10:00 P.M. The flames then expanded to the nearby gymnasium where, according to staff, was where a lot of equipment was stored.

Liberal received aid from Nevada, Lamar, and Pittsburg Fire Departments.

An investigation will determine whether the fire was started intentionally.

The city has faced several cases of suspected arson throughout this year, including one in late June and early July. Officials charged two people in those arsons, 18-year-old Zachary Workman and 25-year-old Thomas Ingram.

According to the schools twitter page, classes are canceled for today.
