Creole Black Beans & Sausage Recipe


2 lbs. sausage/bratwurst
2 cans black beans, rinsed
2 onions, chopped
3 ribs celery, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 cup water
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
2 teaspoons thyme
1 teaspoon oregano
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 bay leaves Rice (to serve)

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the sausage with one of the chopped onions until slightly brown. Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker, adding all remaining ingredients other than rice. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, and serve with white or brown rice. (6-7 servings)
