Crawford County appoints new sheriff
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. — Following Dan Peak’s retirement, the Crawford County Executive Committee met on Sunday, March 24 to select a replacement.
Danny Smith was nominated and voted in unanimously by the committee, made up of officers and current precinct committee members.
While Smith was the only one running for sheriff, county officials like Lynn Grant feel he is the best person for the job.
“He’s been with the sheriff’s department for 20 some years. He’s very knowledgeable, very personable too, also well spoken,” said Grant.
Former Sheriff Peak was re-elected in 20-17, before retiring to pursue a job at Watco.
