A Missouri District Court rejects an appeal from the man convicted of murdering a Missouri Southern assistant football coach. Jeffrey Bruner was convicted of the 2013 murder of Derek Moore, outside of a Joplin movie theater.

Bruner’s estranged wife was with Moore.

Bruner’s defense claimed the judge who presided over the initial case should have allowed the jury to consider self-defense. Bruner’s defense wanted to have the first degree murder conviction thrown-out.

But the Court of Appeals rejected this motion. Bruner is currently serving life in prison without parole. Click here for previous stories on this case.
