Coroner says Joplin man found dead at theater most likely died of natural causes

Updated May 12, 2014 at 1:20 PM: The Jasper County coroner says a Four State man who was found dead at Joplin movie theater most likely died of natural causes. An autopsy will not be performed on Justin Roark, 34, who was found dead by a cleaning person at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the Northpark Theater.

According to Jasper County coroner Rob Chappel there was no evidence of trauma to the body, which would have prompted the coroner to ask for the autopsy.

Updated May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. – Authorities have released the name of a man found dead this morning at the Hollywood Northstar 14 Theater in Joplin. The deceased male has been identified as Justin Roark, 34 of Seneca.

The Joplin Police Department says foul play is not suspected.

May 9, 2014 at 11:34 a.m. – OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM JOPLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT:

On May 9, 2014 at approximately 8:32 AM, officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to the Hollywood Northstar 14 Theater in reference to a dead body that had been located in one of the theatres. A cleaning person located the body this morning as they were cleaning the theatre.

At this time, it does not appear that the death is suspicious in nature; however, the Investigations Bureau is investigating the death. We are not releasing the name of the deceased until family and next of kin have been notified.
