IOLA, Kan. -- Robin Shallie and Marie Barclay from the Iola Chamber of Commerce stops by the studio to tell us about an upcoming mural project! The Iola Chamber of Commerce has recently undergone a lot of changes. One of these changes to help promote tourism is a murals project!
The Chamber is working with artist Max Grundy, known for apparel, commercial illustrations, movies, and logo design. His client list includes Disney and the Discovery Channel. Max will provide original artwork/murals at 4 locations around the square. East wall of the Chamber office, south wall of Audacious Boutique, the west wall of Jock's Nitch and the west wall of Derryberry Breadery.
The murals project will reach an audience of 6,000 residents who live in Iola and the surrounding area. Tourism efforts include all forms of social media (Instagram, Facebook, and the Kansas Tourism Bureau), a yearly community guide as well as utilizing local newspapers and email campaigns reaching upwards of 20,000 people per year.
