Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation receive $20,000 grant
Supports costs associated with staff retention and facility expenses
PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation receives a $20,000 grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission in partnership with the National Endowment of the Arts and the Kansas Department of Commerce. The Short Term Operational Support (SOS) grant will support costs associated with staff retention and ongoing facility expenses.
The SOS grant comes in the form of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) funding intended to provide one-time grants to arts non-profit organizations like the Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation. Kansas Department of Commerce says it recognizes the importance of non-profit arts industry to the state’s economy and the economic hardships organizations face during pandemic.
“We are deeply thankful to the KCAIC, Kansas Department of Commerce, and the NEA for recognizing the importance of preserving and supporting arts non-profit organizations,” said Vonnie Corsini, executive director of the Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation. “They understand that supporting initiatives that use the arts to enhance community vitality, revitalize neighborhoods, generate local business, create and preserve job opportunities, and impact tourism, have a substantial impact on work and community, and enhance the national reputation of Kansas.”
The Colonial Fox Theatre is a non-for-profit organization centered around the restoration of the historic Colonial Fox Theatre in Pittsburg, Kansas. Officials with the foundation say they want it to become a “dynamic cultural center enriching the quality of life and economic vitality of Pittsburg and surrounding communities.”
