Colgan softball aims for back to back state titles

PITTSBURG, KS. – The Colgan softball team is headed to the state tournament this week. The Panthers have earned the #7 seed in the bracket and will be on the field against Spearville in round one on Thursday.

Colgan is aiming for back-to-back state titles. They won in 2019 and then COVID-19 took the 2020 season away.

Although a young team, they are confident that they can bring home another championship.

“I think with our pitcher on the mound, we have total confidence,” head coach Annie Dellasega says. “We know that we can hit the ball. Our lineup up and down the lineup has really come along this year, so our confidence is pretty high. We’re pretty excited to get out there and see what we can do.”

Dellasega believes Colgan’s conference has prepared them well for the competition they will face in the tournament.

“Being in the CNC, we have game pressure all the time,” she says. “There’s really never any game that you think is a wash. Because of that, I think we are set up well for our state.”
