Col. Charles H. Bell 89, Passed away June 17, 2022 at his home in Arlington, Tx, surrounded by family.
Charles was born May 9, 1933, in Pittsburg Kansas, the son of Dr. Cleo D. and Mary Eleanor (Beck) Bell. Charles graduated from Pittsburg High school 1951. After High School Charles went to Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS and joined the ROTC program and graduated in 1955.
Immediately after his college graduation Charles joined the US Army, Field Artillery. After completing his Officer’s basic training Charles went back to Pittsburg Kansas to marry his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Kazmieriski, on December 27, 1955 before being deployed to Korea. Charles and Marilyn had 3 children, Charlie, Jim and Kathy.
In December 1974 Charles’s wife Marilyn passed away from Cancer leaving him to raise their 3 children on his own.
Charles retired from the Army in 1982 at Fort Sill Oklahoma the place where his career began. Charles proudly served in the Army for 27 years
Charles found love again when he met Shirley Watson of Cleburne, TX. They were married in 1983 and were together for 39 years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Cleo D. and Mary Eleanor Bell, his wife, Marilyn Kazmierski Bell and his son-in-law, Robert Byron Eastwood.
Charles is survived by his wife Shirley Bell and their 3 Children, Charles E. Bell, James M. Bell and his wife Tracy, and their daughter Kathryn Bell Eastwood; 5 grandkids and 7 great grandkids, all of Arlington, TX.
Services will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, KS on Nov. 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm followed by burial at Highland Park Cemetery.
