Children’s Haven of Southwest Missouri in Joplin is building Hope for Four State Children and Families.

The non-profit is building a new safe home that will double the number of children they can care for each night, from 12 to 24.

Donations are currently being sought to support the building project which includes a large nursery, additional bedrooms and bathrooms, and a tornado safe room in the basement of the house.

Officials with the organization say through the services they provide they hope to protect area children in a safe and secure environment.

“We don’t have a geographical boundary and so we’re serving kids from the area, we’re taking kids to their home schools whenever possible around the communities and so we really need all of those communities to consider support for this project,” says Stephanie Theis, the Executive Director of Children’s Haven.

Theis says they hope to have the home completed and “move in ready” by the end of this year.
