Child Advocacy Center: Understanding Forensic Interviews
PITTSBURG, Kan. — Jesse talks with Whitney Lovell, the Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center, about forensic interviews.
One of Whitney’s main priorities is ensuring that interviews follow protocol. They also start the investigation process and listen for any information of disclosures the child may state during their interview.
They also watch and make sure that an interview isn’t asking any leading questions set up to make a child disclose information. Their main goal is to remain neutral and child friendly. They want the child to remain comfortable even after the interview process. They also don’t want to have the child disclose any information that may not be true.
