Child Abuse Awareness Walk held in Joplin

A local non-profit group called Fostering Hope held a Child Abuse Awareness Walk on Wednesday in Joplin’s Leonard Park.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and organizers say the Walk is not only to raise awareness but to also to help different organizations to network with each other and with community members.

Officials say it’s all about helping these kids live better lives.

“I feel it’s our responsibility as a community to really come together and support these kids and serve these kids and it’s community members, whether it be in the school or at church or anywhere that we’ll be the ones to identify these kids that might be in environments or situations that there might be potential for abuse,” says Sarah Burch of Fostering Hope.
