Chief Deputy fired by McDonald County Sheriff’s Office; MHP investigating two separate incidents

The Missouri Highway Patrol and McDonald County Sheriff Mike Hall have confirmed MHP is investigating the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office, former Chief Deputy David Roark and a second deputy.

Sheriff Hall says the MHP is looking into two separate incidents but he is unable to additional details at this time due to the ongoing investigations. He did say on June 3 his office fired Chief Deputy Roark.

MHP confirms one investigation began after evidence was discovered missing in reference to a traffic stop involving a local businessman for possible drunken-driving. The file went missing from the deputy’s desk desk and charges were never filed in court. Sheriff Hall says the deputy reported to the sheriff and the county attorney. MHP confirmed they gathered information from the sheriff’s office in mid-May pertaining to this investigation.
