Cherryvale, KS summer weights suspended due to positive COVID-19 case

CHERRYVALE, Kan. – Cherryvale Middle Senior High School is temporarily suspending its Summer Weights and Conditioning Program after a person involved tests positive for COVID-19.

According to school officials the person attended the weight session on Thursday, June 18 and developed symptoms the following day. The district is closing down its facilities to thoroughly disinfect.

All people who are at high risk for exposure will be notified and given further instructions. Officials say students who participated in the Summer Weights and Conditioning Program should limit their exposure to others and wear a face mask when possible.

In addition to the Summer Weights and Conditioning Program, the school district is suspending Driver’s Education and middle school cheerleading rehearsal and tryouts.

No word yet on when the school will restart these programs.
