Charles Edward Hinkle
January 25, 1934 - December 4, 2020
Charles Edward Hinkle, 86, of Purdy, MO, was called home to his heavenly home on Friday, December 4, 2020, while at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett.
Charles was born on January 25, 1934 in Monett, MO, son of the late Cecil and Lois Gertrude (Owens) Hinkle. He graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1952. Charles served his country honorably in the National Guard and had worked for over forty-six years at Jumping Jack Shoe Company, retiring in 1996 as a Financial Supervisor. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Purdy as well as a member of the Monett Lion’s Club. Charles enjoyed playing on his computer and watching his T.V. shows. The greatest joy, however, came to him through watching his grandkids play sports and in spending time with his family.
On February 7, 1958, Charles married Carol Sue Forrester. To this union, two children were born. Carol preceded him in death on April 2, 1994. On December 1, 1995, Charles married Letha Mae Jones in Miami, OK. They have been blessed with over twenty-five years of wonderful memories made together.
Those left to cherish those memories are his wife, Letha, of the home; two sons, Sam Hinkle and wife Nancy, of Fayetteville, AR and Tony Hinkle, of Monett; one daughter, Rhonda Mattingly and husband Jim, of Purdy; eight grandchildren, Matthew Hinkle, Chelsea Billes and husband Robert, Amanda Lee and husband Chris, Joseph Wells and fiancée Jessika Fallon, Alexander Hinkle, Emily Hinkle, Kelton Mattingly and Kinsley Mattingly; four great-grandchildren, Landen and Layla Billes and Mason and Gracyn Lee; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Walker Keith “Bud” Hinkle and Jerry Hinkle; and one sister in infancy, Virginia Rose Hinkle.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Tony Martin and Reverend Bill Banks will be officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations have been suggested to the First Baptist Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
