Charges filed in Pittsburg stabbing in fight over money, phone
PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges today of aggravated battery and possession of marijuana against Noah Richard Futura, 19, of Columbia, Missouri. He allegedly stabbed another man during a fight over money and a missing cell phone.
Pittsburg Police arrest a 19-year-old from Columbia, Missouri for allegedly stabbing Marquis C. Witt, 23, of Chicago, Illinois during a fight.
On Tuesday, August 6th around 8:10 pm, Pittsburg Officers were called to the Casey’s General Store located at 2912 N. Broadway for a fight happening inside. They were told one person had been stabbed.
Officers got there and immediately detained one person and began treating the victim, Witt, until Crawford County EMS arrived.
Investigators say Witt and the suspect were traveling together with several others in a vehicle when an argument over money and a missing cell phone started in the parking lot of Casey’s.
Police say Witt accused the suspect of taking his cell phone and at some point, the argument turned physical.
The suspect then allegedly stabbed Witt in the upper chest. Authorities say the injury was a non-life-threatening wound.
Witt then reportedly chased the suspect into the store where the fight continued until bystanders intervened just before officers arrived.
EMS took Witt to Ascension Via-Christi Hospital where he was treated and released.
Police arrested the suspect and took him to the Crawford County Jail. They are requesting charges of Aggravated Battery and Possession of Marijuana. He’s being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
