Carthage/Webb City football game canceled

The Tigers and Cardinals were scheduled to play Friday night in Webb City.

CARTHAGE, Mo. – Friday night’s Carthage vs. Webb City football game has been canceled, according to the Carthage school district.

The district posted the following on Facebook Wednesday afternoon:

“Athletics Update: A Carthage High School student-athlete tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of this positive COVID-19 test and multiple quarantine orders, the varsity football game scheduled to take place on Friday, September 18 between your Carthage Tigers and the Webb City Cardinals is canceled.
The freshman football game will be played on Monday, September 21. The junior varsity game scheduled to take place on Monday, September 21 is canceled. Practice will continue as scheduled for student-athletes who are not quarantined.
We will continue to work closely with the health department to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and families. The safety of our community is always our priority.”
