Carthage School District cancels summer school after three students test positive for COVID-19

CARTHAGE, Mo. – The Carthage School District announced summer school at the junior high would be cancelled for the rest of the session after three junior high students tested positive for COVID-19.

Additionally, school officials said the last two days of Kindergarten through 8th grade summer school would be cancelled.

7th and 8th grade weights are postponed until further notice.

The students and staff exposed to the positive cases are being contacted by the local health department.

School officials also cited declining student enrollment in the decision to cancel the remainder of summer classes.

The summer feeding program will continue at Columbian Elementary and the high school from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m until July 1.
