Carthage man arrested for the Neglect of a Child
CARTHAGE, Mo – Carthage police arrest a man for the felony abuse of an infant.
On September 12th at 2:13 A.M., police responded to a medical call regarding an infant; at the scene, authorities found the infant unresponsive.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Hunter Kelley of Carthage admitted to shaking the infant until she became unresponsive.
Kelley shook the infant until she lost consciousness then resuscitated her, but he never took her to a medical treatment facility.
He said he had become upset with the infant because she would not go to sleep after being bottle fed her formula; He grabbed her and shook her four times.
The infants injuries include a rib fracture, subdural hemorrhage, and intraventicular blood, and bilateral hemmorages with multilayers; her brain activity is minimal and it is currently unknown if she will survive.
Kelley is charged with Felony Abuse or Neglect of a Child.
