Carthage hits the field for first practice

The Tigers were 10-1 overall last season.

CARTHAGE, Mo. – The Carthage Tigers hit the field Monday evening for their first practice of the season.

With the graduation of QB Caden Kabance, senior Cooper Jadwin is expected to start the season under center for the Tigers.

“Honestly, I feel pretty prepared,” Jadwin says, “I backed up Patrick Carlton my sophomore year and then Caden last year. I think it was really good for me honestly to be able to back up those guys and just kind of build on that and learn from the stuff they did right and learn from the stuff they did wrong. I’ve grown up with these guys, I’ve played with these guys my whole life. I have confidence in them and I think they have confidence in me. I think it will make for great year and a great team.”

The Tigers return some big time players like RB/LB Luke Gall and OL/DT Micah Lindsey – but will be relying on three new faces on the offensive line in front of Jadwin and Gall.

“I think those young guys understand what it is and what’s at stake,” says wide receiver Hudson Moore.

“I’m really confident in these guys that we have. I played with a few of them on JV last year… great kids, good work ethic. Malachi Housh is probably one of the strongest kids in the state. Then also with Micah, he plays defensive tackle for us but he’s been taking a lot of the center reps this year. He’ll tear you up on the defensive side of the ball, but I also know he’s out there protecting me and Luke in the pass game.”
