Carthage hands Ft. Zumwalt North first loss, earns spot in state title game

The Carthage Tigers are headed to the state championship game for the first time in team history.

The Tigers handed previously-undefeated Fort Zumwalt North its first loss on Saturday, beating the Panthers 20-17 in the Class 5 semifinals.

Quarterback Patrick Carlton had three rushing touchdowns on Saturday to lead the Tigers to their three-point win.

Carthage (11-2) will face Jackson (13-0) in the Class 5 state championship game next Saturday at 7:00 PM in Columbia.
