Carrington Place, Senior Living by Americare unveils expansion plans

Carrington Place, Senior Living by Americare, recently unveiled plans for an extensive expansion to the existing assisted living structure and new construction of two independent living cottages. Americare has operated the Carrington Place senior living residence since 1989. The completed expansion and new construction will be one part of the company’s commitment to residents, families, and the Pittsburg community.

Carrington Place will be holding a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm to commemorate the new construction. Under way will be a 5-suite addition to the main structure. With completion expected in summer 2016, the five new resident suites are being added in response to the ever-increasing demand for Carrington Place’s services. Each one is equipped with a kitchenette, separate living and sleeping quarters, private bathroom, and a walk-in closet. These larger suites are ideal for individuals or couples who desire a little extra space and include the same attentive care and service that has made Carrington Place the assisted living residences of choice in Pittsburg.

Americare’s signature, “Ozark Room” is being added as a way to expand common area in the building and will provide a place for the facility to host its own group functions and community events. Carrington Place will be offering use of its Ozark Room to local groups for meetings and functions, free of charge. The room can seat up to 25 people and the facility supplies chairs, tables and refreshments. Both one-time and standing reservations are welcome.

“Part of our operating philosophy calls for service to the communities in which we operate,” comments Carrington Place Administrator Michelle. “We know that many small groups have limited budgets yet still need a space to hold their meetings and functions. We plan to reach out to groups from churches, non-profit boards, and event planning committees to help them take advantage of our offer. The people of Pittsburg have believed in Carrington

Place from the start. We’re delighted to be able to offer use of our Ozark room as a “thank you” for that support,” she finishes.

Along with the expansion of the suites to the existing structure, construction will soon start on 2 new independent living cottages, accentuating the established 6 duplexes for a total of 16 independent units. Nestled on the same property as our assisted living community, the Cottages offer catered living to seniors that balances independence with security.

By adding suites, cottages, and an Ozark room, Carrington Place hopes to better cater to individual needs. “Seniors today want choices and Carrington Place will offer many.” states Vanderford.

Americare’s enhancements at Carrington Place have been more than just structural. Americare’s signature customer service program, Hometown Hospitality, provides valuable training and performance incentives to the staff at the residence. The facility just completed its annual survey with the State of Kansas and was declared “deficiency free”.

“I have been a part of the Americare family for 11 years,” states Michelle. “They bring such tremendous resources in terms of management, training and clinical support. We have a renewed commitment toward person-centered care in everything we do. The quality care provided is something Pittsburg residents have come to expect from Carrington Place and we strive to meet that expectation every day.” she adds.

Carrington Place is located at 1909 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS. (620) 235-1212. Michelle and her team welcome the community to be a part of the Groundbreaking Ceremony this Friday at 2:00 pm and enjoy the Americare experience.
