Carl Junction says goodbye to local skating rink

Kids Roller Skate In At The Rink In Carl Junction

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. – The next couple of weekends will be bittersweet at the Spinning Wheel Skating Center in Carl Junction.

After around 40 years of providing family-friendly entertainment, the business will close its doors at the end of the month.

The Spinning Wheel owner’s daughter says the Coronavirus took a toll on the business, forcing them to close the roller rink for about 20 weeks last year.

The owner of the Spinning Wheel says it wasn’t his choice to move on, but the owner of the property that houses the Spinning Wheel decided to sell to another business.

Dollar General has confirmed to KOAM that they are considering relocating their current store in Carl Junction to the property that hosts the Spinning Wheel.

Friday night saw a lot of younger Carl Junction residents enjoying the skating rink and reflecting on the good times they’ve had there. The owners hope anybody who has had fun there comes out during the next two weekends for one last ride around the rink.

The Spinning Wheel Skating Center will also be open for private parties until the end of January.
