Carl Junction police warn of scam calls
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The Carl Junction Police Department warns residents of a reported phone scam.
Authorities say the calls appear to come from the police department, but say their number has just been spoofed.
Callers say the scammer claims to be an officer in Carl Junction and that a warrant has been issued for the resident’s arrest.
The scammer then says the resident’s social security number has been frozen.
Police say “this is 100% a scam.” Authorities will not call you for any of those reasons.
“Do not give out any personal information if you believe this may be happening to you and call us directly to let us know,” states the Carl Junction Police Department.
